Music and Me

I enjoy music making very much. I not only sing, but play the piano and violin as well. In addition, I'm presently self-learning the guitar. I sang in the the RGS school choir when I was a student there and I simply loved it. I participated in many performances, recordings and competitions within and outside school. This year, we entered the SYF Choral Competition and received a GOLD award! Besides the school choir, I was a member of the Singapore Youth Orchestra (SYO) from 1994-1997. I performed in public and school concerts and even went on a trip to Australia in August 1997 as part of the orchestra. SYO provided me with many opportunities to make beautiful music for others to enjoy. Now, I'm a member of the Singapore Youth Choir (SYC), where I spend my time singing with people who share this interest.Top Of Page

Cats and Me

Cats. They have always been part of my life until I moved recently. I love cats, not just because they are such darling creatures, but also because they really understand your needs. When I had cats in the house, just an innocent 'meow' from any one of them would brighten up my day. Although sometimes they could be a little irritating when they needed attention, they are still cute little furry animals that cuddle up at your feet when they want to take a nap. Food and Me

A Singaporean's favourite past time, eating. I, however, have slightly different eating habits from other fellow Singaporeans. Firstly, I do not eat rice. Yes, I agree that rice is an Asian's staple food and a chief source of carbohydrates, but the point still stands, that I do not eat rice. Please do not try to convince me to change this, as many of my friends have tried, but to no avail. Next, I do not eat eggs and I do not drink milk. Same thing here, this is probably where most of you get your protein, calcium, vitamins etc.. Since I don't eat all these things, what do I eat? Simple things include fruits and vegetables, favourites being water melon, broccoli, cauliflower, raw tomatoes and many others. Wierd things which I would eat which you probably wouldn't would be fish head, including eyes and brain, chicken legs, bittergourd, brinjal, chinese herbs (yes, the bitter ones), black chicken and many, many others. I'm not telling you all this to freak you out, but it's just that all this is part of me and if you want to know me, you'll have to know this. To neutralise the effect, here are somethings wich I simply love, and so do many of you. If you don't know what they are, it doesn't really matter because most of it is Singaporean food, which is a mixture of Chinese, Malay and Indian cuisine. Things like rojak, roti prata, wanton mee, black pepper crab, satay, prawn mee, chao guo tiao, ou jian (fried oysters) and many uncountable ones. Now, can I convince you that I'm no alien? Stars and Me

On a cloudless and quiet night, I find that the most peaceful and relaxing thing I can do is gaze at stars. Looking at those blinking lights in the sky, I am reminded of the secrets of this universe and the greatness of God. Sometimes, I am able to spot a few constellations like the Big Diper, Orion, Scorpion and the Southern Cross. Other times, Mars and Venus are just too bright to ignore. When the moon is full, though the stars disappear, the moon still has it wonders and mystery. I don't think I will ever be bored by the night sky. It looks different every time I look at it!
